B&HGSG News: Madonna Leaves Malawi After Week’s Charity Tour

B&HGSG News: Madonna Leaves Malawi After Week’s Charity Tour
(NSI News Source Info) LILONGWE, Malawi - November 1, 2009: Madonna has left Malawi after a nearly weeklong visit with her family, airport and charity officials said Saturday. Officials said Madonna flew out of the southern African country on Friday. The 51-year-old celebrity arrived in the impoverished country on Sunday accompanied by her four children — daughters Lourdes and Mercy, and sons Rocco and David. Mercy and David were adopted from Malawi.
While in Malawi, she broke ground for her $15 million Raising Malawi Academy for Girls and visited the orphanage that cared for her son David before she adopted him.
Madonna’s Raising Malawi, a charity founded in 2006 when she first visited the country, helps feed, educate and provide medical care for some of Malawi’s orphans.
Malawi, a nation of 12 million, is one of the poorest countries in the world. About 500,000 children have lost a parent to AIDS.

Madonna Arrives In Malawi

Madonna Arrives In Malawi
(NSI News Source Info) LILONGWE, Malawi - March 29, 2009: Air traffic controllers say Madonna's plane has landed in Malawi, where she is expected to begin proceedings this week to adopt a girl as her second child from the impoverished African country. Pop star Madonna poses with her adopted Malawian son David Banda in Mphandula, 2007. Madonna was expected to arrive in impoverished Malawi, airport officials said, to file documents allowing her to adopt a second child.
The controllers at the airport in the capital Lilongwe spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to discuss the matter with reporters.
A Malawian welfare official and a person involved in the adoption proceedings have said the girl Madonna is hoping to adopt is about 4 years old and her unmarried mother died soon after she was born. They spoke on condition of anonymity because the case is considered sensitive.
Madonna adopted Malawian-born David last year.

Madonna and Family: Kabbalah Weekend

Madonna and Family: Kabbalah Weekend
(NSI News Source Info) January 24, 2009: Keeping up with her typical New York City routine, Madonna managed a smile as she headed into Kabbalah services with her three children on Saturday (January 24). As she toted David Banda in her arms, the 50-year-old “Queen of Pop” let her daughter Lourdes lead the way as her middle son, Rocco, hid behind his mommy all the way up to the Kabbalah Centre entrance.
As per the usual, the group also happened to be spotted out for Kabbalah the previous evening - making preparations for today’s services.
On a side note, rumor has it that Madge is planning on extending her “Sticky & Sweet” tour by adding shows to cities not visited the first time around.
Said to be taking place mostly in Europe during the months of July and August, nothing’s been confirmed as of yet, although numerous insiders are indicating that it’s pretty much a done deal.

Madonna to Join Britney Spears' Circus Tour

Madonna to Join Britney Spears' Circus Tour
(NSI News Source Info) January 6, 2009: Madonna has more high-energy plans to give her career a shot in the arm after her divorce - and we're not talking about marathon romps with Alex Rodriguez.
According to the UK's Daily Mirror, the Queen of Pop will be performing with Britney Spears in the summer on some of the latter's global tour to promote Circus.
That's on top of several high-profile solo gigs Madonna has planned.
For now at least, bosses are keeping the dates in which she will appear with Britney Spears under wraps. A source said: "Choreographers have been asked to create an out-of-this-world dance routine for Britney and Madonna."
"When Britney Spears joined Madonna on stage for her recent Hard Candy tour, it was very sedate. This is going to be a much more high energy dance routine - they will be getting back to what they are both good at, performing."
We can only hope for more of this ... Mmm. Wouldn't that be something? Anyway, here are more shots of the superstars "performing" together over the years.
