Kate, 29, bended down to chat to the girl - who was there with her mother - and later reassuringly touched her head.

Prince William watched on, smiling, as his wife displayed her natural sense of ease with her royal duties.

Britain's Prince Williammarried his fiancee, Kate Middleton, last Friday. Her wedding dress was designed by Alexander McQueen's Sarah Burton, ending months of fevered speculation in the fashion world over who would create one of the most talked-about outfits of the decade.
