Brad Pitt has waded into the Gulf oil spill controversy with an extraordinary veiled attack on BP.

The Hollywood actor said he would consider the death penalty for those to blame for the ruptured well that gushed millions of gallons of oil into the ocean.

He was speaking in a documentary due to be screened in the US tomorrow tonight.

Asked about the people responsible for the crisis, the ‘Inglourious Basterds’ star said: ‘I was never for the death penalty before – I am willing to look at it again.’

Mr Pitt, 46, has spearheaded the ‘Make it Right’ project to build 150 affordable and sustainable homes in one of the areas of New Orleans that was worst hit by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

His efforts in the region are featured in the new film by director Spike Lee marking the fifth anniversary of the hurricane devastation.

The documentary, called ‘If God is Willing and Da Creek Don’t Rise’, was supposed to end on a positive note with the New Orleans American Football team winning the Super Bowl.

But when the Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion happened in April, killing eleven workers and triggering the worst environmental disaster in US history, Mr Lee extended the film to include that story.

‘This would have been a much more upbeat documentary for sure,’ he said yesterday. After the oil spill, the filmmaker said he had to ‘rethink and reconfigure.’
But despite the setbacks suffered in the region, Mr Lee said residents would bounce back.

‘Their wills are not going to be broken. They are going to keep moving on,’ he added.

Mr Pitt’s incendiary remarks were revealed as his partner Angelina Jolie was making a goodwill visit to Sarajevo, Bosnia.

She spoke to government officials about possible education programmes to help resettle refugees still homeless following the country’s civil war.

The superstar couple, who have six children, own a home in New Orleans.

An estimated 4.9 million barrels of oil leaked into the Gulf of Mexico during the 87-day spill. According to US Coast Guard Admiral Thad Allen, the operation to permanently seal the leak will not be completed until early next month.

Although the flow of oil was stopped on July 15, BP had originally hoped to complete the ‘bottom kill’ to pump cement into the well this month.

B&HGSG News: Divorce - the Hollywood way ~ Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie The Latest Stars To Split In Glare Of Media Spotlight

B&HGSG News: Divorce - the Hollywood way ~ Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie The Latest Stars To Split In Glare Of Media Spotlight
(NSI News Source Info) My Desk YYZ - January 26, 2010 (Source By Brian McIver) : FOR years they've been seen as the ultimate celebrity couple - sexy, beautiful, rich, cool and controversial.
So the rumoured end of the Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie "Brangelina" relationship is the biggest break-up in Hollywood for years.
The actors, who have three adopted children and three biological kids, have been together for six years after meeting on the set of crime thriller Mr And Mrs Smith.
The split is said to be down to drifting apart and, if it happens, could prove to be one of the most amicable Tinseltown break-ups ever. But not all star-studded splits are as friendly. Here are some of the nicest and nastiest break-ups:
TOM CRUISE AND NICOLE KIDMAN
Married for 10 years with two adopted children, Tom and Nicole divorced in 2001 and there were bitter exchanges. Kidman made jokes about being able to wear high heels again so as not to dwarf him. He described the marriage as a "passionless hell".
BRAD PITT AND JENNIFER ANISTON
Until Ms Jolie came along, Brad Pitt was married to Friends star Aniston. They wed in 2000 but divorced bitterly in 2005 after he left her for Angelina. The couple's marriage had been on the rocks, with claims of fights due to his refusal to stop smoking and her reluctance to have children. While he sailed off to Jolie, Aniston took it badly. She has been linked with several co-stars including Vince Vaughn and Gerard Butler.
JENNIFER LOPEZ AND BEN AFFLECK
For two years they were the hottest celeb couple and the first to have a conjoined name - Beniffer. But the engaged lovers called it off in 2004. They blamed media pressure, which spilled over from the gossip columns to affect his movie career badly. After the split, he said: "It was probably bad for my career. There is a bleedover from the tabloids across your movie work and I ended up in the position where I was in a relationship and the media inflated stuff to sell magazines. I paid the price."
LINDSAY LOHAN AND SAMANTHA RONSON
Lohan's transformation from Disney Channel cutie to Hollywood wild child was complete when she announced her lesbian affair with Samantha Ronson. But their fiery twoyear relationship ended in acrimony with taunting and slagging each other in the media. There was talk of restraining orders and all kinds of comments, with Lohan describing the affair as being like her movie Mean Girls.
Sir Paul McCARTNEY AND HEATHER MILLS
One of the most public, nasty and expensive celebrity divorces saw the ex-Beatle ditch his wife of six years in a 2008 divorce. The judge branded her evidence as inaccurate and Mills waged a huge publicity war to defend her position against accusations of gold-digging.
After the hearing - and a massive payout to his ex-wife - Sir Paul said: "There will be no more nagging, no more chaos, no more Heather... bliss. I have peace at last."
CHARLIE SHEEN AND DENISE RICHARDS
The party guy was snared by the young star in 2002 after they dated for two years. In 2006, she filed for divorce while pregnant with their second daughter, saying she could take no more. She accused him of gambling, drug-taking and womanising. He retorted by calling her a "sad, jobless pig".
LIZ HURLEY AND HUGH GRANT
One of the most amicable splits was between British stars Liz Hurley and Hugh Grant. Their 13-year relationship survived his prostitute liaison but they broke up in 2000. They have remained good pals, Liz marrying Indian heir Arun Nayer and Hugh enjoying a long relationship with Jemima Khan.
SIENNA MILLER AND JUDE LAW
After proposing in 2004, Jude was only engaged to Sienna for a few months before sleeping with the nanny. The relationship survived his affair but ended in 2006. They have recently been rumoured to be dating again.
MADONNA AND GUY RITCHIE
After a wedding at Skibo Castle the duo divorced last year, with Madonna throwing a party to celebrate the end of her marriage to someone she said was "emotionally retarded".
His friends leaked stories that her obsession with fitness had ruined the marriage.

B&HGSG News: Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie Promise To Remain In Good Terms After Split
(NSI News Source Info) My Desk YYZ - January 26, 2010: Hollywood celebrity super-couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have apparently decided to call time on their relationship by agreeing to divide up their $205m fortune.
According to the News of The World, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie pair reportedly visited divorce lawyers in Beverly Hills last month to draft an agreement that will see the couple separate..
The papers will see ‘Brangelina’ divide up their assets straight down the middle. The unmarried couple will also have joint custody of their six children.
A source said: "It seemed clear they want the world to know they'll both play a part in the upbringing of the children. But Angelina will actually be the one who lives with them full-time.
"There's no date for when the contract would come into effect. But the paperwork is already organised for a break-up - and for it to be as unmessy for them as possible. It is clear it's a case of when they break-up rather than if."
Jolie met Pitt on the set of 2004 movie Mr and Mrs Smith when he was married to Friends star Jennifer Aniston. Pitt later split from Aniston in 2005 after five years of marriage and claimed he fell in love with Jolie during the making of the movie.
According to reports earlier this week in Now magazine unlucky-in-love Jennifer told the Oceans Eleven and Inlgourious Basterds star who is said to be reunited with her that would have nothing to do with him while he was still involved with Jolie.
It was also claimed she believed being with the Tomb Raider sex siren was affecting Brad’s health, apparently describing him as looking like ‘a walking corpse.’
Both stars took part in Friday’s Hope For Haiti Now telethon appeal.
The telethon was only the second time since their 2005 split that Brad and Jennifer have been confirmed to be in the same place at the same time.
Also present at the event was 300 star Scottish hunk Gerard Butler who has been romantically linked with the former Friends star and was allegedly spotted making out with her at the Golden Globes Awards ceremony last weekend.

Angelina Jolie’s Thailand Refugee Trip

Angelina Jolie’s Thailand Refugee Trip
(NSI News Source Info) February 6, 2009: Continuing along with her duties as a Goodwill Ambassador, Angelina Jolie paid a visit to refugees from Burma (Myanmar) in a camp in Thailand on Wednesday (February 4). Listening to their heart-wrenching stories of civil rights abuse, the “Changeling” actress spoke to press about some of what she was told, adding that something must be done.
“I was saddened to meet a 21-year-old woman who was born in a refugee camp, who has never even been out of the camp and is now raising her own child in a camp,” Angie said after her trip to Ban Mai Nai Soi camp.
“With no foreseeable chance that these refugees will soon be able to return to Burma (Myanmar), we must find some way to help them work and become self reliant,” she added.
The camp currently houses 18,111 registered refugees, all of whom aren’t allowed to leave for proper schooling or work.

“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” (based on the 1920’s book by F. Scott Fitzgerald) sees Pitt’s character born as an elderly man who suffers from several age-related diseases, but over time he grows progressively younger.

Brad Pitt's Definition Of Cheating With Angelina Jolie May Be The Pitts

Brad Pitt's Definition Of Cheating With Angelina Jolie May Be The Pitts
(NSI News Source Info) January 7, 2009: Brad Pitt's no cheater – at least not by his definition.
The 45-year-old actor has come out swinging (again) at allegations that he began an affair with Angelina Jolie on the set of "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" while he was still married to Jennifer Aniston.
Pitt announced his split from Aniston soon after the movie wrapped.
"What people don't understand is that we filmed for a year. We were still filming after Jen and I split up," he says in the February issue of W magazine. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie got close on the set of "Mr. & Mrs. Smith."
"Even then it doesn't mean that there was some kind of dastardly affair. There wasn't."
But, like many spouses before him, Pitt's definition of what constitutes an affair might be little ... off. Experts say it's not just about sex.
"An emotional affair is an affair. If you find yourself having feelings for someone, that is the beginning of an affair," says Rachel Sussman, a New York-based marriage and family therapist
So whether Pitt and Jolie consummated their relationship while he was still married to Aniston is irrelevant, she says.
Jolie, who now has six children with Pitt, raised eyebrows in October after she told the New York Times that "not a lot of people get to see a movie where their parents fell in love" - referencing her steamy onscreen role opposite Pitt in "Smith."
Aniston later pegged Jolie's remarks as "uncool" in an interview with Vogue magazine.
Both Jolie and Pitt have denied that they began dating during his marriage and Pitt now says that his early relationship with Jolie was "respectful" of his marriage with Aniston.
But Pitt's definition of what's "respectful" might differ from his ex-wife's.
"Men do tend to walk around feeling that unless I'm having sex, I'm not doing anything wrong," says M. Gary Neuman, psychotherapist and author of "The Truth About Cheating: Why Men Stray and What You Can Do to Prevent It."
But for women, he says, the idea of what's cheating is more broad.
"Women can be uncomfortable with the husband talking about how many lunches he's had with an associate. There is a difference of perspective."
Extramarital sex, he adds, "is only painful because it says how far the emotional affair went."
Both Sussman and Neuman agree that spouses can avoid becoming too close to a member of the opposite sex.
Playful banter in the workplace, business dinners and lengthy work trips away from family can all be "dangerous situations" Sussman says – let alone playing a hot-to-trot married couple in a movie like Pitt and Jolie.
Emotional cheating may be difficult to avoid, says Sussman. Pitt was married to Jennifer Aniston while shooting "Smith," but says he never cheated on her. "In a long-term committed monogamous relationship, we'd be foolish to think nothing like [that] would happen in our lives. It does happen," Sussman says.
"We have to be aware that these things can happen and know when to draw the line."
