When Bollywood met Hollywood in Dubai

When Bollywood met Hollywood in Dubai
(NSI News Source Info) December 9, 2008: Some of bollywood's top celebrities like SRK, Rani, Priyanka etc were invited for the Atlantis hotel Dubai launch. After the launch, SRK had a private party where our desi celebs hobnobbed with some top Hollywood stars.
Rani Mukherjee may not be on a professional high lately with the constant flops that she has been giving, however the lady is still considered to be at the top, no doubt due to her close association with Aditya Chopra.
Unfortunately, Rani turned up in her usual tried and tested Indian garb, an average looking sari. Rani definitely needs to revamp herself and get a more trendy, youthful look.
Aditya who is known to have given many actresses a new look in his films, needs to do something for his ladylove, pronto!

Big B & Tabu to team up yet again

Big B & Tabu to team up yet again
(NSI News Source Info) December 8, 2008: The chemistry of Big B and Tabu received rave reviews in ‘Cheeni Kum’. Now, this legendry actor and the talented actress are teaming up yet again for the period film “The Legend Of Kunal” where Big B will be playing emperor Ashoka and Tabu will play his wife Tishyarakshitra. Incidentally, this will be Tabu’s next venture after ‘Cheeni Kum’.The film will be directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi (who made ‘Pinjar’) and produced by Amitabh’s company AB Corp Ltd.
“Tabu had not a moment’s hesitation in saying yes to the role of emperor Ashoka’s powerful wife Tishyarakshitra, so powerful she swayed the entire Mauryan empire with her politics and aura. We needed an actress with the strength of conviction,” said Dwivedi.
“History and its cinematic treatment demand the characters to be true to their antecedents. And emperor Ashoka, who is caught in his twilight years in my film, had to be played by Bachchan saab. Only he possesses the gravity, sobriety and personality along with being the age required.
I wouldn’t make Ashoka without him. As for Tabu, she plays his young, fiery, assertive wife. She’s an actress I’ve wanted to work with for a very long time. Again, only she could play Tishyarakshitra,” Diwedi added.
In addition, the film will star Arjun Rampal as emperor Ashoka’s son Kunal. Amrita Rao will play his wife Kanchanmala.
“Again, I cast them because of their suitability rather than saleability,” Dwivedi said.
“In fact, Amrita was recommended by Jaya Bachchan. Tabu and Amrita have many dramatic confrontation scenes together. I needed an actress who could hold her own against someone as powerful as Tabu. Amrita is delicate but strong,” he added.

Kim Sharma messes up with the national flag
(NSI News Source Info) December 8, 2008: Her intention were good and noble, but her action definitely caused her more harm than good getting bad publicity for her. Bold and beautiful actress Kim Sharma participated with millions of others in the Peace Protest March that was held at the Gateway of India on 26th and 27th of March to express her concern and support towards the dead who sacrificed their lives for India in the Mumbai terrorist attacks but the lady turned up wearing the Indian flag upside down!
Well, you cannot hide anything from the shutterbugs which seemed to trap this goof in their lenses. Hope this seems as an eye opener to all those who wish to express their love for the country!!

Hollywood Beauty....Kerry Washington
(NSI News Source Info) December 8, 2008: I must say that I'm not a fan of the jumpsuit trend that took hold in 2008, but Kerry Washington practically converted me this week with her mod Missoni jumpsuit -- though its legs were so full that it basically looked like a dress.
The actress wore the bold design at the American Cinematheque Awards in Los Angeles, cinching the waist with an obi-style belt and accessorizing with hoop earrings and diamond bangles by Neil Lane.
Her smoky eyes and blunt bangs were the perfect compliment to the retro look.

Shah Rukh's biography a hit in Poland
(NSI News Source Info) Warsaw - December 8, 2008: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is a favourite icon of Polish youth and all his films are lapped up eagerly in Poland. Now, a biography of the Indian actor has been translated in the Polish language and received very well.
Massive publicity has been given to film journalist Anupama Chopra's book King of Bollywood throughout Poland.
Lifesized posters of Shah Rukh Khan with the book title, King of Bollywood, have been displayed at the underground stations in Warsaw and all important places in big cities. Word of mouth publicity is also adding to the book's sales.
Shah Rukh's popularity among Polish youth began with Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham when it was released in January 2005 with Polish subtitles. It was the first megahit from Bollywood that enchanted the Polish people. Since then most of Shah Rukh's films have been superhits in Poland, whether it was Dil Se, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna or the evergreen Main Hoon Na.
To cash in on Shah Rukh's popularity, the most important newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza, a few months ago started selling Bollywood films along with its weekly edition at throwaway prices to boost sales.
"The name of Shah Rukh has become a common home name. The profile of India has gained many notches in the Polish psyche. It is a sheer phenomenon if not anything else," said Piotr Klodkowski, ambassador-designate to India and a wellknown Indologist, while addressing the Warsaw Rotary Club.
"To my mind after Kama Sutra it is Bollywood and Shah Rukh which have given tremendous popularity to India over the past several decades," said Klodkowski.
"The Bollywood popularity has given new dimensions to Indian culture," added Janusz Krzyzowski, president of the India-Polish Cultural Committee. "When we organise any classical dance recital or musical programme, people feel more attracted and our programmes are more appreciated by the audience."

Lisa Lazarus finds Mumbai safe

Lisa Lazarus finds Mumbai safe
(NSI News Source Info) December 7, 2008: On one hand England cricket players are leaving the country as they have been left terrorized by Mumbai Terror Attacks, Miss UK Lisa Lazarus finds the city safe. She even toured the city with her boyfriend and was keen to attend the peace rally held at Gateway but couldn’t make it on time because of her shooting schedule.
Lisa says, “I feel very safe here. I don’t think I would feel safe in Pakistan. If I was asked to go there now, I wouldn’t. Here everyone’s been so overly protective. If something has to happen, it will happen, death is something you cannot run away from.”
Incidentally, Lisa was to reach Mumbai on 26/11 but didn’t get her visa. Instead, she sat at home and watched with horror at the carnage unfolding live on television. “It was still Tuesday there. Taj was one place I thought of visiting.”
Meanwhile Lisa is gushing about her co-star Salman Khan, “I saw his pictures. He is so good looking but I also love Aamir Khan. I think these guys are the Brad Pitt of India.”
On comparision with Katrina, she says, “It’s a compliment. We can be friends. Katrina is also from UK, like me.”
Well this girl is surely talking sense.

John’s very angry after Mumbai attacks
(NSI News Source Info) December 7, 2008: John Abraham was recently seen inaugurating food and wine show my magazine Upper Crust and represented the never-say-die Mumbai spirit who bounced back after the attacks.
However John is quite angry, “I’ve been born and brought up in Mumbai. I may be smiling and laughing now, but I’m so angry that I can beat up someone,” says John.
Although the media is being criticized by many for minute by minute coverage of the attacks which helped the terrorist and informed them about every external move, John is quite happy with them.
He says, “This is the first time I’m saying this — the media has done a fabulous job. You guys were very good.”
Do you guys think that media did the right thing by showing the minute-by-minute coverage of the attacks which ultimately helped the terrorists?

Famous Bollywood Kisses

Famous Bollywood Kisses
(NSI News Source Info) December 7, 2008: There was a time when kisses on screen seemed like a taboo. Today they are as popular as item numbers in movies, thanks to apni Mallika Sherawat who broke all the norms with her 17 kisses in the film Khwahish. There have been smooches on screen time and again that hit the headlines and raised a few eyebrows. Through the course of history lets look at some of the most sensational smooches on screen.
Bobby(1973) - Way back in 1973, Bobby was declared a bold film. Raj Kapoor dared to experiment with everything from skimpy clothes to a quick smooch between Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia to rake gold at the box-office.
Dayavan (1988) - This Mani Ratnam film is much known only for its hot kissing scene between ’sweet and young’ Madhuri Dixit and ‘once-upon-a-time superstar’ (then in his mid-age) Vinod Khanna . The film was a remake of a Tamil film which didn’t do well at the Box-office.
Raja Hindustani (1996) - The Kissing scene between Aamir Khan and Karisma Kapoor drenched in rain came as a surprise to many watching the film in the Indian cinemas. Nonetheless, it was an amazingly shot kiss.
Fire (1996) - One of the most controversial films in the history of Indian cinema. A super hit overseas as it told the tale of lesbian love in the heart of middle class India. Nandita Das and Shabana Azmi share a controversial kissing scene in the film.
Khwahish (2003) - Govind Menon’s Khwahish is synonymous with Mallika Sherawat’s 17 kisses on screen. Record breaking I must say!
Hey Ram (2000) - Apart from a controversial subject matter, what added to the controversy was the scandalous love-making and kissing scenes between Rani Mukherjee and South superstar Kamal Hassan.
Kyun…Ho Gaya Na (2004) - Aishwarya Rai had always been an enigma for the media especially after she broke up with Salman Khan. She was said to be dating Vivek Oberoi during the time Kyun… Ho Gaya Na released. Although the kiss between Vivek and Ash evoked curiosity, the film was a major flop.
Boom (2003) - Boom did not do well on the box-office only that it made news for its kissing scenes. The lovemaking scene that made news and the censor board go chop-chop-chop was the one between Gulshan Grover and newcomer Katrina Kaif (in her debut role). Apparently Gulshan demanded 7-8 retakes of his kissing scene with Katrina. Katrina had no complaints because she didn’t have Salman as her boyfriend then
Black(2005) - A Kissing scene in the film between veteran Amitabh Bachchan and co-star Rani Mukherjee, playing teacher and student gathered a lot of smirks.
Dev (2004) - Kareena and Fardeen Khan shared a kiss on screen for the movie Dev and that became quite controversial because it didnt go down well with the Muslim community because they both played Muslims in the film.
Musafir (2004) - Musafir is amongst those umpteen Sanjay Dutt gangster films. The only reason why this one is fresh in people’s minds is because of some sensational (and sometimes unnecessary) love-making scenes between Anil Kapoor and Sameera Reddy.
Dhoom 2 (2006) - Nothing wrong with the kiss between Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan. But someone filed a case against the Yash Raj films because he found the kiss obscene. Also the kiss is said to have upset the Bachchans who are Aishwarya’s in-laws now. Hrithik Roshan was not invited to the Abhi-Ash Wedding despite being Abhishek’s childhood friend.
