American Idol Producer Backs Paula Abdul

American Idol Producer Backs Paula Abdul
(NSI News Source Info) December 16, 2008: Despite recent tensions, “American Idol” producer Ken Warwick says that Paula Abdul’s job is safe, adding that she’s an integral part of the hit show.
“There’s never ever been any discussion that we would want to get rid of Paula, even if there were people in production that didn’t like her,” Warwick told press during a conference call.
“And Simon [Cowell]’s one of them. He waffles in and out, he likes her one minute, he loves her the next, he can’t stand her the next. America loves Paula, she’s an integral part of this program and as far as I’m concerned I hope she’s there ‘til the day it comes off the air,” Warwick added.
Continuing to dote praise on the 46-year-old AI judge, Warwick tells that Paula is “one of the foundation blocks of this series, and I certainly would not want to lose her and I don’t think America would want to lose her either. She keeps Simon well in control and she’s worth her weight in gold in that alone.”

Sonam gushes, "I think Abhishek is a wonderful guy. I really love him. He has such a handsome and charming personality.
It's a real pleasure to be with him on the sets of a film. I am working with him for the first time and it's a wonderful experience." It seems the newcomer that she is, Sonam doesn't pay any attention to rumors of link-ups and affairs with actors in the film industry.
In fact when asked about her alleged affair with Ranbir Kapoor earlier or with Kunal Kapoor currently, Sonam expresses surprise and says, "I never had any affair either with Kunal or Ranbir. Ranbir is a great friend of mine. We still meet and enjoy our time together. There is nothing like any affair between two of us."
Sonam says that she was quite surprised when she came to know about how she was being linked with Kunal Kapoor. "I think till today as far as I remember I haven't met Kunal more than twice or thrice. There is not an iota of truth in all these rumours."
On being asked about her Bollywood journey so far, the lively actress expresses satisfaction and says, "I owe everything to my father. Whatever I am today, it's only because of him. I have inherited fame and recognition. I have to do a lot to establish myself."
The movie Delhi 6 is based on Rakeysh Mehra's growing up days in Delhi's Chandini Chowk. The film stars Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor, Om Puri, Atul Kulkarni, and Divya Dutta. It is Mehra's third directorial venture after the immensely successful Rang De Basanti, which was nominated for an Oscar in the foreign film category.

Ghajini is an event: Aamir Khan

Ghajini is an event: Aamir Khan
(NSI News Source Info) December 16, 2008: Actor Aamir Khan, whose hairstyle in the film Ghajini has been imitated by the ushers and employees of various multiplexes as part of a special promotional activity, said that the movie is an event in itself.
The bald look: Aamir Khan's Ghajini is the next big release this year, and the actor is leaving no stone unturned for its promotion
Aamir said: "It normally doesn't happen that the entire chain of theatres accept the look of a character in a film. It doesn't happen with every film."
Release Date; December 25, 2008....Ghajini is about Prashanth Pawar (Aamir Khan), a rich businessman who owns a cellular phone company named Air Voice and the events surrounding his relationship with Kalpana (Asin Thottumkal)
"Theatres are looking at Ghajini as an event and it has become an event in itself," Aamir said while speaking to reporters."
I am extremely happy with the idea and the enthusiasm shown by volunteers in accepting the look," he added. Aamir said the hairstyle of the character in the film was the same as that of south Indian star Surya. He said: "We have kept the same hairstyle as Surya, who played the lead role in the Tamil version of Ghajini.
"Aamir denied that the promotion activity of his film was to challenge Shah Rukh's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. "Our marketing team had come up with the idea long back and it has nothing to do with Shah Rukh's film," he said.
On being asked about what he thought about Shah Rukh's latest release Rab Ne..., Aamir said: "I have not seen it yet, as I have no time."
Aamir felt that his leading lady in Ghajini Asin would take everyone by surprise. "Asin is the surprise package (of the film) and I think the whole country will be floored by her talent," the actor said.
Giving Ghajini competition when it releases Dec 25 will be the animation film Jumbo for which actor Akshay Kumar has lent his voice. Aamir, however, feels that there is no competition between the two films. "Jumbo is an animation film and I think there is no clash with it," the actor said.
Preview: Ghajini is about Prashanth Pawar (Amir Khan), a rich businessman who owns a cellular phone company named Air Voice and the events surrounding his relationship with Kalpana (Asin Thottumkal).
Kalpana, an advertisement model goes around telling her advertisement crew that she is the love interest of Prashanth. Kalpana does this in spite of having never met him and also goes to the extent of giving an interview about her relationship to a popular magazine.
Prashanth happens to hear about this through the media and wants to settle scores with her. On his way, he catches a fleeting glimpse of a young woman (who happens to be Kalpana) helping handicapped children to cross a street.
It is love at first sight for Prashanth. He moves on to confront Kalpana at her advertisement studio. He is pleasantly surprised to realise that she is the same helpful woman he saw a while ago. He chooses to hide the fact from her that he is Prasad, calling himself as Manohar.
Kalpana eventually falls in love with him.Once, while on a train to Mumbai, Kalpana saves a group of young girls from abuse by a group of goons led by Lakshman (Pradeep Rawat).
After a few days, the same goons come to Kalpana's house in order to avenge their embarrassment. Incidentally, Prashanth arrives at the scene and fights off the goons, but during the ensuing fight, Kalpana is murdered.
The irony showcased is that Kalpana never finds out that he is Prashanth. Lakshman then strikes Prashanth on his head severely with a metal rod. Though he survives the blow, but suffers from a short-term amnesia.
At any given time, he does not remember anything that happened more than 15 minutes back, although he frequently has flashbacks of Kalpana's murder. He determines to take revenge on those responsible for Kalpana's death. The rest is how Prasad, along with a medical college student Chitra (Jiah Khan), goes about finding Lakshman and the goons.

I wore a fake smile on stage: Parvathy

I wore a fake smile on stage: Parvathy
(NSI News Source Info) December 16, 2008: Parvathy Omanakuttan may have conquered the heart of millions after her remarkable win at the Miss World 2008 pageant, but little did anyone realise that the beauty queen was sporting a fake smile when she came on stage during the contest. Deep inside, and beyond those plastic smiles, her heart was still struck by the Mumbai terror attacks.
Parvathy's father, who has been working with hotel Taj for last 32 years, had a narrow escape. It was sheer luck that saved her father. He left the hotel before it was attacked by the terrorists.
Parvathy, who had left Mumbai for Johannesburg more than a week before terror attacks traumatised the nation, recalls, "God saved my father. He was in the morning shift on that day. In the late evening, when I was taking rest in my hotel, I received a message from one of my friends asking if my father was safe. I didn't realise what had happened. Since it was around 8pm in Johannesburg, I just called up my father. He told me that some terrorists had entered hotel Taj and they had taken several guests as hostage. I just can't narrate my feelings. I closed my eyes and thanked the Almighty that my father was safe."
In fact, Taj has a special bearing for Parvathy who has grown up visiting the premier hotel. With her father, she visited Taj innumerable times when she was a kid. Says she, "I have my childhood memories with the hotel. I was emotionally upset. I wanted to come back to Mumbai to meet my parents and to share the pain of other terror-struck families but I was helpless. For the first time I missed Mumbai so much. With deep pain in my heart I had to wear a fake smile every time I came on stage." She adds further, "I grew up with Taj. It's like my family."
Other contestants were also emotionally affected by the terror strikes. Says she, "Most of them had visited India and had stayed at Taj. They were very concerned about the developments. They kept asking me about it."
Parvathy also wants to do her bit in the fight against terrorism. "We should not let the fire die. We need to keep our government on the toes so that safety and security will be scrutinized at regular intervals." She adds, "At the same time I have a message for the youngsters. They are very vulnerable so they should not get into wrong traps. They should channelize their energy in doing positive things in life."

I was miquoted: Parvathy Omanakuttan

I was miquoted: Parvathy Omanakuttan
(NSI News Source Info) December 16, 2008: Omanakuttan has strongly denied the media report that she has questioned jury's decision. Speaking to NDTVMovies.com on phone from Johannesburg, the first runner up of Miss World 2008 said, "I never questioned jury's decision. The contest was fair, and free from all biases.
They were just and reasonable to each and every contestant. I have been totally misquoted on that point. I never said to anybody that I was not rightly judged.
I have a lot of respect for judges in the contest."Parvathy, who lost the Miss World 2008 crown to Miss Russia Ksenya Sukhinova was recently quoted in the media as calling the jury "unfair". According to an agency report, Parvathy in a statement to India Vision, a Kerala based news channel had said "I have performed better than others in the personality and question-answer round. This is not just. All those who watched it on Saturday felt like that. I feel the jury's decision was unfair".
Talking about the reason for not winning the crown, Parvathy told NDTVMovies.com, "How can I say why I couldn't win? I can only say that I was not destined to win and so I lost. I left no stone unturned to prepare for the pageant. I worked very hard. I can't really figure out what went wrong. The result disappointed me because I always thought of winning the title. I thought I did excellent in every round but as I am a great believer in destiny, now I just feel that destiny was not on my side at that point of time."
It's not all disappointing for the newly crowned beauty queen. She was happy that the eight years of dry spell for India in the international pageants have come to an end with her winning the runner up title. The long-legged beauty from Kerala said: "I felt from childhood that it's in my genes to bring international glory to India in the field of beauty. It's a big achievement. I feel like a winner. I am thankful to my friends, colleagues and everyone who supported me. Their encouragement has brought me to this stage. My parents came all the way from Kerala to accompany me in Johannesburg. It gave me a lot of strength."
As Bollywood always manages to entice beauty queens, does she too have any plans of joining films? Parvathy sounded not too different from former beauty queens when she said, "I am looking forward to some quality time with my family. At the moment I am simply enjoying myself. After that if I get some good offers, why not say yes to them? I am ready to get into Bollywood if a good script comes my way." Thus spoke the beauty with a brain!

Madonna gives Guy £50m in divorce

Madonna gives Guy £50m in divorce
(NSI News Source Info) December 16, 2008: Madonna and Guy Ritchie got married in Scotland in 2000.
Madonna has paid former husband Guy Ritchie around £50m as part of their divorce settlement.
The pop star's US spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg told The Associated Press (AP) the figure included the value of the couple's Ashcombe home in England.
She said the financial part of the settlement had been worked out but custody of the couple's children had yet to be finalised.
"I'd assume it's one of the largest payouts ever in a divorce," she said.
The payout is much larger than the £24.3m Heather Mills received from Sir Paul McCartney earlier this year.
CELEBRITY DIVORCE DEALS
Basketball star Michael Jordan: paid an estimated $168m (£110m) to his wife of nearly 18 years in November 2007
Neil Diamond: gave an estimated $150m (£98m) to Marcia Murphey, whom in 1996
Steven Spielberg: first wife Amy Irving was awarded an estimated $100m (£65m) in 1989
Harrison Ford: paid an estimated $85m (£56m) to his second wife, Melissa Mathison
Sir Paul McCartney: was told to pay Heather Mills £24.3m ($37m) by a judge in March
Ms Rosenberg told AP that Ritchie had been given £50-£60m ($76m-$92m).
In an e-mail to BBC News, she said she was confirming an earlier report, which said he would get $60m-$70m (£39-£46m). She declined to give further details and was unavailable to clarify the discrepancy.
When the divorce was made official last month, Ritchie told the Daily Mirror the split was "never, ever about money".
The couple, who wed at Skibo Castle in Scotland in December 2000, were granted their divorce at the High Court in London.
A sworn statement released by the court showed the pop star petitioned for divorce on the grounds of the film director's unreasonable behaviour.
Madonna also said in the statement that they had not been living at the same address for the six months before the date of the petition.
At the time, the couple had reportedly agreed to share custody of their two boys, Rocco, eight, and three-year-old adopted David Banda, while it was reported that Madonna's daughter from an earlier relationship, 12-year-old Lourdes, would stay with her.
The singer is currently on her Sticky and Sweet world tour, and is due to perform in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on Monday.

‘Khallas’ Girl Goes Sexy Again For FHM
(NSI News Source Info) December 15, 2008: Seems her all covered up look in ‘Ek Vivah Aisa Bhi’ bored out everyone so much so that the ‘Khallas’ girl has decided to revert back to her sexy avatar by appearing as the sizzling ‘Bollywood’s Sweetheart’ on the covers of the popular magazine FHM. The photoshoot and her interview has been done by Akash Shrivastava, the photojournalist who made Eesha talk about everything and just anything including her journey to Bollywood, her being stereotyped as the item girl, her definition of fun, her take on Girlfriend, her idea of an ideal guy, her mischief with cockroaches, her mantra for success, etc…etc…
Here is an excerpt from the interview:
Did being stereotyped as an item girl affect your career?
There is a lot of stereotyping in the film industry. People like to label you like boxes of cereal.
What attracted you to Girlfriend?
Quite often, the way a movie is narrated to you is quite different from what it turns out to be! I’ve learnt from my mistakes.
Would you consider settling down with someone from the film industry?
No. I wouldn’t. Because I’ve already found someone who is not from the industry.(laughs)
Describe Eesha’s ideal guy?
Someone open, with whom I can share my weakness and have no fear of being let down! Also someone who shares the same interests as mine. But like I said, I have found my ideal guy.

Kareena Kapoor - Surgeon As Well As Supermodel???

Kareena Kapoor - Surgeon As Well As Supermodel???
(NSI News Source Info) December 15, 2008: For her forthcoming ‘Kambakth Ishq’ Kareena Kapoor has decided to follow the looks of Sarah Jessica Parker from ‘Sex and the City’. Kareena is quoted as saying, “My looks in Kambakht Ishq will be something audiences have not seen before. It is completely different from Tashan, Golmaal Returns and Jab We MetI play a surgeon and a supermodel in Kambakht Ishq and my styling has been done keeping my character in mind. I always discuss my roles with Lolo and when I asked her about Kambakht Ishq, she told me to get inspiration from Sarah Jessica Parker’s look in Sex And The City. Lolo loves watching TV serials and Sarah’s cool, chic, glamorous and yet simple styles”.
The movie has Kareena playing a surgeon who then gets transformed into an international supermodel in Italy. However, Kareena has decided to let go for her zero-size figure and go for a fuller look as she has to look convincing both as a surgeon and an international model.
“Yeah my character flies to Italy to become a super-model to support herself financially. I didn’t want to play the character looking like an international model because she’s basically in another profession. So she can’t really have the figure of Victoria Beckham, can she? I had to look more filled up. Again, for my next release Main Aur Mrs Khanna with Salman, I play a wife. So I wanted to look more filled up. Not that wives can’t be curvaceous. The one I played in Golmaal Returns certainly was,” says Kareena.
Now Kareena has decided to hold steady with her new weight. “I weigh 54 kgs now, which for a girl of my height is quite fine. People used to wonder what ‘Size 0′ is and I’d joke, ‘Just look at me’. I don’t want that anymore. I want to look like a nice normal healthy girl,” she says.

(NSI News Source Info) December 15, 2008: India's Parvathy Omanakuttan, who emerged as the first runner-up in the Miss World contest, feels the jury's decision to push her in the second position was "unfair."
"I have performed better than others in the personality and question-answer round. This is not just. All those who watched it on Saturday felt like that. I feel the jury's decision was unfair", Parvathy told India Vision channel on Sunday."I had confidence. I could do well.
