Adnan Sami Gets Death Threats Post 26/11
(NSI News Source Info) December 11, 2008: Adnan Sami, a British-Pakistani singer and composer is facing the aftermaths of the 26/11 attacks on Mumbai. He has been receiving death threats from anonymous callers on Wednesday.
“The calls started coming immediately after that horrific Wednesday. The command was simple, ‘Leave Mumbai immediately or be killed’,” says a harrowed Adnan.Adnan didn’t know who was making these calls. He had already received a lot of flak from fellow Indian musicians who dislike the coming of Pakistani singers in India (read: Aadesh Shrivastava and Abhijeet). When the calls repeated
“Adnan then decided that this time, the threat was more serious than before. For the first time, he became seriously worried for himself and his wife Sabah,” says his friend.
Apparently Adnan contacted Sonia Gandhi for help but with elections overhead, she probably didn’t want any controversies hampering Congress’ chances. So she did not provide him any security. Poor Adnan had to get in touch with a private agency for security.
His friend confirms, “He now moves around with four bodyguards and four armed men provided by an agency named 911. This security posse accompanies him everywhere. They stay in his house and go to concerts and other social occasions with him. Adnan is seriously scared for his life. He has told very close friends the name of the organisation that should be held responsible if something untoward were to happen to him.”
Well, if the threats are to be taken seriously, then Pakistani artistes in Bollywood should surely be careful.
