In a recent interview, Brenda got real about the pros and cons of being an actress, as well as the pressures to be a good role model.She told press, “Being an actress is difficult. Sometimes they won’t look at you because you don’t have blue eyes and blond hair, and it’s 10 times as hard to get through the door. Sometimes they’re just not looking for an Asian actress. That was difficult when I was younger, but it’s all part of the job. At the end of the day, it makes you a better person. You can’t think of yourself as an Asian American actress. It’s not about what you look like, it’s about what you do … and who you are as a person.”
She continued, “Oh goodness, I hope I can set a good example. If I can do it, anyone can. I’m living my dream every single day.”
