BHGSG News - June 25, 2011: Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan greets Anushka Sharma during the IIFA Rocks show in Toronto, June 24, 2011. The International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards will be held in Toronto on June 25.
The ceremony for this year's International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards is taking place in Toronto on June 25, but there are plenty of scheduled celebrations in the Greater Toronto Area leading up to the big gala.
One of the key objectives for both the Government of Ontario and IIFA is that the IIFA experience is an opportunity for people both from the region (participating four cities) as well as visitors from other areas of Ontario, Canada and the world to share in the celebration of IIFA. The 'IIFA Buzz' is a program of events that has been developed to incorporate municipal programming and events that celebrate Indo-Ontarian communities and identify with the IIFA brand.
The events are being staged by the cities of Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton and Markham with support of the Government of Ontario and endorsement from IIFA. These events are created in partnership for communities to celebrate IIFA related and themed activities. We're excited that the four cities will be buzzing this June when IIFA comes to town! People of all ages, cultures and nationalities will be able to enjoy a special festival happening alongside the main events from the beginning of June onwards. The events not only encompass Indian film, music and entertainment but also celebrate 'South Asian culture' – offering everything from fashion, food, dance, theatre, carnival and art.
