Bollywood's Anil Kapoor To Star In TV's '24'
(NSI News Source Info) LOS ANGELES - April 4, 2009: Indian actor Anil Kapoor, a Bollywood star who was also in the Oscar-winning "Slumdog Millionaire," is to take a leading role in the television thriller "24," the industry daily Variety said.
Kapoor, 49, will play a Middle East leader in the eighth season of the adventures of intelligence agent Jack Bauer, played by Kiefer Sutherland. The series is due to be seen at the end of the year in North America.
In his 25 year career, Kapoor has played in more than 100 films but it is thanks to "Slumdog Millionaire" in which he plays a game show host that he has shot to international fame.
"Slumdog" won eight Oscars this year and has already scooped more than 21 times more at the box office than its 15 million dollar (11 million euro) budget.

(NSI News Source Info) New Delhi - April 3, 2009: Actress Sushmita Sen says it doesn't matter whom people vote for, but it is important that everyone votes. "Please vote for whoever you do, but please do vote," Sushmita urged her fans here Friday.
Sushmita, who was in the capital to inaugurate PC Jewellers' new showroom at Pitampura, said coming to Delhi always felt like coming home as she had lived a large part of her life in the city.
"I've been here 14 years of my life. I used to stay in Vasant Kunj (south Delhi) and it is such a touchy place. I've lived there so long.
Coming to Delhi is like homecoming for me," the former Miss Universe told reporters. "And everytime I come here, especially India Gate and Qutub Minar are the two places that really make feel I'm home," she added.
Sushmita's future projects include "Do Not Disturb" and "Dulha Mil Gaya", and she is reportedly in talks to play former Pakistan prime minister Benazir Bhutto in a bilingual biopic, but the actress says she would love to go back to her interests like travelling and writing.
"My life has changed hugely. The things that I used to do back then have changed whether it be taking time out for writing or anything else. Slowly time has become scarce but I am so hoping that in times to come I can go back to my previous interests like travelling," the actress said.

(NSI News Source Info) March 30, 2009: Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, who co-owns Indian Premier League (IPL) team Rajasthan Royals, hopes that the new venue for the matches will be a success for the T20 series.
"Kudos to the South African government and South Africa cricket body who have welcomed us with open arms and I am really hopeful after attending the Australia vs South Africa Pro T20 Match on Friday, seeing the huge cricket fan base there, I am sure that the IPL will be hugely successful," Shilpa posted on her blog shilpashettylive.com/blog Sunday on board a flight to Cape Town.
The second edition of IPL is taking place in South Africa. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to shift the Twenty20 tournament outside the country after state governments failed to assure security for the event that clashed with general elections.
Last year's winning team, Rajasthan Royals will kick off the series with a match against Bangalore Royal Challengers at Newlands, Cape Town April 18 and the 33-year-old actress also admitted to undergoing pressure to maintain the winning streak.
"The pressure is really on, especially for us but I feel Rajasthan Royals have an edge since three of our players belong to the South African team, namely South Africa captain Graeme Smith, Morne Morkel and Tyron Henderson," she wrote.

(NSI News Source Info) LILONGWE, Malawi - March 29, 2009: Air traffic controllers say Madonna's plane has landed in Malawi, where she is expected to begin proceedings this week to adopt a girl as her second child from the impoverished African country. Madonna was expected to arrive in impoverished Malawi, airport officials said, to file documents allowing her to adopt a second child.
The controllers at the airport in the capital Lilongwe spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to discuss the matter with reporters.
A Malawian welfare official and a person involved in the adoption proceedings have said the girl Madonna is hoping to adopt is about 4 years old and her unmarried mother died soon after she was born. They spoke on condition of anonymity because the case is considered sensitive.
Madonna adopted Malawian-born David last year.
