In the third film, a TV journalist is sent on a sting operation by his TRP-hungry employer. He must unveil the ugly underbelly of the entertainment industry by exposing the casting couch. His instruments: his spy camera, a small-time dancer who wants to cut a music video, any which way and an exploitative pop singer.

B&HGSG News: Good Looks Not Always Important Says Minissha Lamba

B&HGSG News: Good Looks Not Always Important Says Minissha Lamba
(NSI News Source Info) My Desk YYZ - March 23, 2010: Actress Minissha Lamba admits her ultra-glamorous look in "Kidnap" opened a whole new range of opportunities for her. But the young actress, who will be seen in Shyam Benegal's new film, feels that at the end of it talent plays an important role.

"My looks in 'Kidnap' helped open a whole new and different range of opportunities for me. It is something I cherish. Being good looking is important, but not always. You need talent as well. If you have talent, people accept you regardless of the way you look," Lamba told IANS over telephone from Mumbai.

She also feels being short is not a disadvantage in the film industry.

"If you are a model, having height is imperative, but cinema is a medium where it doesn't matter. You are on a platform where being tall or short loses relevance," she said.

After her glamorous avatar in "Kidnap", Minissha will be seen in a non-glamorous role in Benegal's forthcoming film, "Well Done Abba".

"At first I was really scared to work with Mr. Benegal. But once we started shooting, he turned out to be a really calm, jovial and humorous person. We never saw him upset on the sets," she said.

"Well Done Abba", a political satire, narrates the story of Armaan Ali (Boman Irani), a driver working in Mumbai. He takes a month's leave to find a husband for his teenaged daughter, who lives in a small neighbourhood near Hyderabad. But he returns to his job after three months. His young employer wants to sack him, but is persuaded to listen to the reason why he got so delayed.

The film, produced by Reliance Big Pictures, is inspired by two short stories - "Narsaiyyan Ki Bavdi" by Jeelani Bano and "Phulwa Ka Pul" by Sanjeev.

Benegal had said in an interview that Minissha hasn't got her due in Bollywood, but the 25-year-old says she has no regrets.

"That's extremely generous of him to have said that, but it's all right. I hope with this film my talent gets appreciated and I get more opportunities to show my potential," she said.

Minissha started her journey as an actor from the critically acclaimed film, "Yahaan", alongside Jimmy Shergill in 2005. She was later seen in "Corporate", "Shaurya", and Yash Raj Films' "Bachna Ae Haseeno".

"It has been a great journey. There were disappointments and heartbreak, but I am grateful for where I am today. There is a lot more I need to do and work even harder," she added.

Releasing March 26, it also stars Samir Dattani, Ila Arun, Ravi Kisshan, Sonali Kulkarni and Yashpal Sharma.

B&HGSG News: Bipasha Sports Nine Looks In Pankh. Which Look According To You Suits Her The Best???

B&HGSG News: Bipasha Sports Nine Looks In Pankh. Which Look According To You Suits Her The Best???
(NSI News Source Info) My Desk YYZ - March 22, 2010: The film, Pankh zeros in on the psychological burden attached to stardom, especially when it starts young. Pankh is the story of a pushy mother (Lilette Dubey), who thrusts her child (Maradona) into the film industry at an early age and forces him to act the part of a little girl in films. Baby Kusum is a child star, a cute little girl. In reality, Baby Kusum is boy, masquerading as a girl.

He was christened Jerry, and then named Master Jai for the movies. He and his mother Mary (Lilette) share a turbulent relationship. Once the boy reaches adolescence, he's a drug-abuser who has never been to school and spends all his time at home.

As a youth, Jerry meets his dream woman, Nandini (Bipasha), causing another inner turmoil. Bipasha is the fantasy woman who Maradona conjures up in his head-a phantom who taunts him and fights with him, an alter ego who questions his every move.

Jerry is made to face the camera again as a young man, which leads to the final catastrophe. The film highlights the common practice in the Indian film industry of casting children in role contrary to their natural genders, there screen.

B&HGSG News: Kareena Compares Herself With Sandra Bullock
(NSI News Source Info) My Desk YYZ - March 20, 2010: Recently, the Kapoor girl was awarded title of Worst Actress for Kambakkht Ishq by Golden Kela Awards. The actress sportingly accepted the award and defends her stand saying,

“Sandra Bullock won a Razzie for All About Steve and then an Oscar for The Blind Side. So why can’t I bag a Kela Worst Actress Award for Kambakkht Ishq and then a Best Actress for 3 Idiots and Kurbaan? I take it as a compliment.”

She goes on, “One unsuccessful film doesn’t make you a bad actress. Sometimes you take a risk for a friend, sometimes to extend your boundaries. Superstars are born from failure more than success.”

Now that’s Bebo, one should not be surprised if she celebrates this one too!

B&HGSG News: Virtue-ly Moir Gold Assured For Canada?
(NSI News Source Info) My Desk YYZ - (SOURCE: By Neate Sager) February 23, 2010: There's a sneaking suspicion Tessa will be one of Canada's most popular baby names of 2010.
More apposite observers of figure skating can put Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir's perfect performance into perspective. Some are already comparing Moir singing "O Canada" when he stepped onto the podium with the 1982 world junior team for spontaneous singing to celebrate a victory. It also draws Canada within two of the U.S. for the most golds, 7-5, with Germany and Norway standing on six.
Curling, hockey, women's ski cross are still ahead on the Olympic docket. There are also relays in men's short-track speedskating and women's long-track.
FiveThirtyEight.com, coming into Monday, still projected Canada winning the most gold medals. It feels almost cheap to bring up numbers after the performance Virtue and Moir put on. Even watching them warm up in the hallways of Pacific Coliseum was transfixing. (One wonders if CBC would have put a camera back there.)
Beyond that, there is little else one can add.
There was second-guessing on Twitter about CTV's Rod Black announcing Virtue and Moir had won the gold just as the final pair, bronze medalists Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin, completed their free dance.
Please. Black knows figure skating cold and his job is fill in the audience on what isn't made obvious by the images. It was an easy call to say it then, rather than wait for the scores on what he called the Russians' "clunky" routine.
Canada rallying around ice dancing. You would think we lost a hockey game the night before.

B&HGSG News: Watch Bollywood Actress Bipasha Basu Shares Fitness Routine
(NSI News Source Info) My Desk YYZ - February 15, 2010: Bollywood Actress Bipasha Basu has just launched a video album featuring her latest fitness mantra; Bipasha Basu Love Yourself – Fit and Fabulous You.’ Bipasha, who has always been obsessed with fitness, wants to help over stressed and workplace burn outs get their fitness freak back on. The conceptual side of the video is based on the psychology of fitness as much as it is the mechanics.
Basu claims the new album enables people to fight the negative forces in life which cause great insecurities. Focus being the key to a balanced life obviously, Bipasha’s ideas are not new. Somehow though, her celebrity, form, and obvious adherence to being fit may help some achieve a modecrum of success. The idea reminds me of the Jane Fonda workout series in America.
According to the news, other actors are present helping Bipasha demonstrate the routines, and she claims that people participating can expect some fat loss within 48 hours.

It will be interesting to see how popular and effective the videos become. We found a montage of Bipasha on YouTube, we thought you would like. You can also check out her official site which has some interesting media and background information on Bipahasha.

B&HGSG News: Striker (2010) Hindi Movie Watch Online
(NSI News Source Info) My Desk YYZ - February 13, 2010: Striker is a 2010 Hindi Horror Movie directed by Chandan Arora, starring Siddharth, Aditya Pancholi, Padmapriya and more. Striker is publicized as the horror-most film in Indian Bollywood Film Industry. Read the review.
Striker: Is a good film
Rating: 3 out of 5*
Starring: Siddharth, Aditya Pancholi, Padmapriya,Vidya Malvade, Ankur Vikal and Anupam Kher
Director: Chandan Arora
Feb 5, 2010 (Calcutta Tube): Its December 1992 and curfew time in Malvani, Mumbai’s north western suburb when Suryakant Sarang aka Surya (Siddharth) arrives back in Mumbai from an out of town trip. Communal riots have broken out in the area mostly dominated by Muslims. Surya is stopped by the police, headed by local in charge Faroukh (Anupam Kher). But Surya is restless after he comes to know his family members have fallen prey to the riots. From hereon the narrative alternates between the flash back and current scenario mode. It narrates the tale of how Surya, a lower middle class boy, the youngest of the three siblings rises to become an ace carrom champion in the carrom betting syndicate headed by spearheaded by Jalil (Pancholi). Surya and Jalil keep crossing paths as Jalil desperately wants him to play under him. But Surya nurses a childhood grudge against him. Making matters more complicated is Surya’s childhood buddy Zaid (Ankur) who is working under Zaid.
Striker Hindi Movie Review
Editor turned director Chandan Arora (Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hun, Main, Meri Patni Aur Who) has always narrated character based tales and this time with through the eyes of an extremely well written central character he has showcased a never before exposed on Indian screen, the betting underbelly. The carrom game sequences are fantastically shot what with real carrom champs used. Making them more entertaining is the sledging running commentary by the bystanders. Vijay Maurya and Pankaj Saraswat’s dialogues are sufficiently spicy. The camerawork enhances the edgy mood of the film. Sound design is excellent too. Songs are not lip synced and don’t act as speed breakers but carry the story forward. In fact even Siddharth has sung a song in the film.
Siddharth is nothing short of excellent in the film. Exhibiting a cute boyish charm he is very real and vulnerable at the same time. His splendid carrom playing skills are in full display in the film. Aditya Pancholi with amazing screen presence exudes scare whenever he appears on screen. Ankur Vikal is perfectly cast as Siddharth’s druggie best friend. Vidya Malvade gets few scenes but she manages to leave an impression. Playing a fisherwoman running the local dingy bar, newcomer Padmapriya resembling Tabu is wonderful and is extremely expressive. Anup Soni, Anupam Kher and Seema Biswas are good as usual. Nicolette as Siddharth’s first crush is good too.
Chandan Arora’s Striker works for the fact that it actually narrates a never seen before story as also for its authentic setting and excellent acting. Do not give it a miss.

B&HGSG News: Forgiven ~ John Terry Kisses And Makes Up With Wife Toni By Pool In Dubai

B&HGSG News: Forgiven ~ John Terry Kisses And Makes Up With Wife Toni By Pool In Dubai
(NSI News Source Info) My Desk YYZ - February 12, 2010: When the time comes for John Terry to hang up his boots, a new career beckons as an actor.
The disgraced footballer threw himself whole-heartedly yesterday into the role of loving husband with eyes only for wife Toni.
In scenes of saccharine sweetness enacted for the waiting cameras, Terry kissed and cuddled Toni while their twin children played beside a Dubai pool.
Happy families: Terry cuddles up to his wife as their children play nearby
Recriminations over his latest affair presumably had to wait until they were safely behind closed doors at their five-star hotel suite.
Terry, 29, flew out to the Middle East on compassionate leave from Chelsea, a week after his sacking as England captain by manager Fabio Capello.
Toni had fled their Surrey home with twins Georgie John and Summer Rose soon after the £170,000-a-week star lost a court battle to prevent details being published of his fivemonth fling with Vanessa Perroncel, former girlfriend of his England colleague Wayne Bridge. Forgiven: The couple share a kiss as they relax poolside
Terry, who has cheated many times on Toni, his childhood sweetheart, is said to be desperate to save their marriage and yesterday's pre-Valentine's Day performance suggests the prospects are good.
After arriving in Dubai Terry had not only to face his wife, 29, but was also confronted by her furious parents Sue and Alan Poole.
The Dubai meeting was the first time the couple had seen one another after in the two weeks since news broke of his affair with Perroncel, 33, the former partner of his teammate Wayne Bridge. The couple couldn't keep their hands of each other after their reunion
Terry reportedly paid for 100 red roses to be sent to his wife's hotel room, and said he'd learnt from his mistakes.
'I've realised what a big mistake I've made,' he told the Daily Mirror.
'It has made me sit down and realise what's important in my life.
'My wife and kids are all that matters and I can't believe I was stupid enough to risk losing them.'
Toni said: 'John looked me in the eye and said he's changed. We have drawn a line under this episode. It's all about our future as a family from now.'Toni's glum look from the past few days was replaced by smiles as she was reunited with her husband Terry and his wife kiss and make up
It was no doubt an awkward day for the former England captain, 29, with his in-laws in attendance, who were understandably furious with the way he has treated their daughter.
The couple and Toni's parents spent the day by the pool, sunbathing, eating and drinking and playing with the twins.
On board Emirates flight EK8, Terry, who wore a white hoodie emblazoned with Great Escape star Steve McQueen, reportedly drank a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc white wine. Two's company...: The Terrys will repair their marriage under the watchful eye of his in-laws, who have accompanied Toni to Dubai Terry was given time off by Chelsea this weekend in order to be by his wife's side
Other woman: Vanessa Perroncel is said to have had an affair with Terry last autumn
Having reserved two £2,500 first-class seats to himself, he is understood to have sat under a duvet during the journey and flicked through the plane's movie channels.
Asked how he felt before departing, he said nervously: 'I’m all right I guess. I’m OK.'
But his anxiety seemed to lift after seeing his family again.
The sight of his twins soon cheered him up, with the pair heard screaming 'Daddy! Daddy!' as he closed the door of his family suite at the five-star Le Royal Meridien Hotel.
He plans to treat his wife to a romantic Valentine’s Day meal on Sunday before returning that night or on Monday morning.
She said earlier this week: ‘I am so glad he has been given the time off and really pleased he could make it.
'We’ll enjoy our time together and make the most of it.’
But she has insisted if she is to give their marriage another go, he must abide by a strict new set of rules.
The WAG has apparently told him 'It's my way or it's over,' and demanded he curtails his boisterous lifestyle.
In a series of tearful phone calls to the disgraced footballer, Toni is believed to have said:
'Things have to change. There will be no more chances. Please, I really want this to work. I know you do too.'
