Welcome to the family: Kate attends Queen's annual pre-Xmas lunch for first time
17DECEMBER 2010Kate Middleton was welcomed into the royal fold this week as she joined senior members of the Windsor family at the Queen's annual pre-Christmas lunch.
The 28-year-old brunette accompanied her fiancé Prince William to the Buckingham Palace party for the first time.
They arrived at the Palace at 12.45pm and were among the last to leave – with Prince Harry – two-and-a-half hours later.
A source said: "This was a pretty big deal for Kate… but nothing seems to faze her.
"She's confident in their company and really enjoyed herself."
Among the 50 guests who attended were Prince Harry, Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall,Zara and Peter Phillips and his wife Autumn Kelly.
Some of the invitees won't be able to make it to Sandringham – the Queen's private estate in Norfolk – for Christmas.
Prince William won't be there as he's working as a RAF search and rescue pilot.
Kate, meanwhile, will be spending one last Christmas with her family.
