Angelina Jolie to step in for Tom Cruise?
(NSI News Source Info) August 12, 2008: It's a breakthrough day for women everywhere. EW.com has learned that Sony Pictures is completely re-imagining its long-gestating spy vehicle Edwin A. Salt, which, until now, had Tom Cruise attached to star. But rather than focusing on a male CIA officer who's accused of being a Russian sleeper spy, the studio has decided to make its lead a woman — Edwina, if you will. And not just any woman: the studio is negotiating with Angelina Jolie to star. Philip Noyce (The Quiet American) is still attached to direct. No word on whether the script, by Kurt Wimmer (The Thomas Crown Affair), requires a complete rewrite, or if they just have to change the pronouns.
