I was never called Roshan Ahuja: Shiney
(NSI News Source Info) Wednesday - September 10, 2008 New Delhi: Bollywood actor Shiney Ahuja of Gangster fame has denied that his name was ever Roshan Ahuja and that he changed it to Shiney for his foray into filmdom."I don't know where that has come from now. Roshan is not my name. My parents named me Shiney and that has been my name all my life," Shiney said while he was in conversation with a radio jockey on one of the FM channels.Shiney was in the capital to promote his film Hijack, which has failed to woo audiences in the first week after its release.Talking about his role in the movie, Shiney said: "I play the character of Vikram Madan, a maintenance chief of Chandigarh airport, a man who has a hero in him and who never gives in."The film, also starring Esha Deol, tackles the subject of hijacking.Shiney began his Bollywood career in 2003 with Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi and continued doing serious roles in films like Gangster, Woh Lamhe and Khoya Khoya Chand. But the actor says he is not choosy about the genre of films that he has done in his five-year-old career."I don't really have any specific genre. My genre is a film's script. If I like the script and if it excites me, then I do it. It's that simple," Shiney said."I've never said that I do only intelligent films. I do those films that I believe in and if I like its script. If the movie has a soul, it can be intelligent or unintelligent, I would still go ahead with it," he added. It is apparently the script alone that drives Shiney to zero in on his films. He said: "Good scripts are my success mantra. If you like the movie, if it interests you, if it moves you when you read it, chances are you will perform well in it and that is what makes it a success."
