rce Info) TOKYO — December 3, 2008: Yoko Ono on Tuesday announced her upcoming charity concert “John Lennon Super Live” to be held at Nippon Budokan on Dec 8 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of her peace and human rights efforts.She also distributed pieces of a clay pot as a present to those in attendance, and asked them to bring them back in 10 years time so they can put the pot back together as a gesture of rebuilding peace.
Ono, 75, likened the smashed pot to the sad state of affairs in the world today, and asked the audience to think of how they can help in peace efforts when they look at their piece of the pot, and to come back to the Imagine Studio in Yurakucho on Dec 2, 2018 and help rebuild it.
John Lennon and Ono’s fight for world peace together began in 1968 when they planted two acorns at the Coventry Cathedral in England.
Their act was not only a symbol for peace, but also of east and west coming together, and a symbol of the distance between two people being minimized by love. They held their famous “Beds In for Peace” events the following year.
