Nandita Das's Firaq finally in India
(NSI News Source Info) November 13, 2008 - Kolkata: Made in India but viewed all over the world Nandita Das 's debut as director with Firaq has won her critical acclaim at the Toronto, Vancouver and Pusan film festivals but it is the film's first screening in India that's got her smiling ear to ear."I have been all over with the film but I am happy to finally screen the film here in Kolkata because I made it for the poeple who have lived through it," said Nandita Das, Actress & Filmmaker.Still reeling from the pressures of being the producer, Nandita is getting back to facing the camera instead of directing now.And the one project thats generating buzz is a film based on Salman Rushdie's Midnight's Children to be directed by Deepa Mehta."The film will take some time they haven't even started writing the script yet. In fact Deepa is making another film before that I remember reading Midnight's Children as a child and I remember the character of the native Padma who finally comes back to Sailm," said Nandita. With many films coming up it may be a while before Nandita Das gets back to the director's chair.
