Monica, a model, dancer, and actress, is the 31 year old sister of actress Penelope Cruz. She was born on March 16, 1977 in Madrid Spain to Encarna Sánchez, a hairdresser, and Eduardo Cruz, a retailer and auto mechanic. She, sister Penelope and brother Eduardo grew up in a working-class suburb just north of Madrid. She attended the The Royal Academy of Dance, where she studied traditional ballet and flamenco.
After graduating, Monica joined the Joaquin Cortés’ dance company, where she preformed as a flamenco dancer for 7 years. In 2002, she decided to broaden her resume and began to pursue a career in acting. Three years later, she landed a role on the popular Spanish television show Un Paso adelante. In addition to her television acting, she has also appeared in numerous movies.
