2008 MTV Europe Music Awards Rock Liverpool
(NSI News Source Info) November 7, 2008: It’s one of the biggest nights in the International music industry, and earlier this evening musicians from all over the world converged on the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England for the 2008 MTV Europe Awards.
Taking care of the hosting duties was none other than Katy Perry. And the “I Kissed a Girl” songstress had plenty of sass and costume changes (a total of 12) to fill the 2-hour time allotment.
One of the night’s highlights happened when Sir Paul McCartney’s accepted the Ultimate Legend Award, presented by U2 frontman Bono. And according to MTV Networks International Chairman Bill Roedy, the former Beatle is “one of the true greats.”
Roedy commented to press, “Not only has he been one of the most formative influences on the music scene on a global scale, but he is one of the founding fathers that has earned Liverpool the recent accolade as most musical city in the U.K.”
In addition, Britney Spears took home the award for Best Album for her song “Womanizer.” And though she wasn’t in attendance to accept, she had prepared a gracious speech via video.
Rousing musical performances of the night included Kid Rock, Beyonce Knowles, The Killers, Take That, and Kanye West, among others.
