Japanese Obama lookalike comedian Nocchi hones his routine
(NSI News Source Info) TOKYO — November 8, 2008: Japanese comedian Nocchi, 43, who is said by some to resemble U.S. President-elect Barack Obama, can expect a lot of job offers, according to an online survey. Ncchi, whose real name is Nozomu Sato, has recently become popular on TV programs because of his resemblance to Obama. He has studied Obama’s mannerisms to perfect his mimicry.
In the online survey about Obama conducted by an Internet-based marketing company, 39.1% of respondents said the new president will positively influence the Japanese economy and 44.7% of them said it will be a good opportunity for Nocchi to make a big name for himself in Japan’s entertainment industry.
Nocchi actually met Obama briefly at a campaign rally while in the U.S. for a TBS variety program. Obama spotted him and said: “You’re Obama”—an occasion that was covered by the Chicago Tribune.
